I’m particularly attracted to flora & fauna that look fantastical but are real, from jellyfish to nudibranchs to seadragons. Jellyfish Rising is a culmination of working with different media separately over the past 15 years. I layered molding paste to create texture, oil paint to add color, then resin to lend transparency & depth. Finally, I finished the piece with oil painting a hyper-realistic jellyfish on the surface. 140 hours and over a year later, and I had a jellyfish! There is so much magic under the sea and I love capturing it.
